About this role

The Junior School Principal provides inspirational, strategic, and professional leadership across Grades JKP–5. Responsible for teaching & learning as well as curriculum quality, academic achievement, and student well-being, the Principal fosters a dynamic, holistic learning environment anchored in our mission to challenge and inspire students each day to love learning and shape a better world. Working collaboratively with the Junior School deputy principals, PYP Coordinator, and Student Support Services, the Principal ensures a strong start to a Branksome Hall Asia education and smooth transitions into the Middle School.

As a key administrative leader, we strongly value comfort with ambiguity, flexibility, a can-do attitude, and putting the interests of the group above self.

  • Faculty & Staff Development: Recruit, onboard, and empower high-caliber faculty and staff, including co-teachers and educational assistants, overseeing performance growth, collaborative planning, and core instructional practices while modeling the IB Learner Profile.

  • Curriculum & Instructional Excellence: In partnership with the Director of Teaching & Learning and in collaboration with the PYP Coordinator, oversee inquiry-based curriculum development and assessment standards. With the Middle School Principal, ensure vertical articulation so students are fully prepared for the Middle School.

  • Student Well-being & Inclusive Culture: Build a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment responsive to the needs of young learners; oversee welfare and guidance, student conduct, and learning support in alignment with the Inclusion Policy.

  • Community & Partner Engagement: Serve as the divisional point of contact for families, cultivating transparent communication and positive relationships with parents, partner schools (including Branksome Hall Canada), and the wider community.

  • Co-Curricular & Experiential Learning: Support service learning, co-curricular opportunities, and off-campus experiential learning, approving Education Outside the Classroom activities before they proceed.
