About this role

The MYP Coordinator is a crucial link between BHA and the IB, providing informed, collaborative pedagogical leadership for the Middle Years Programme. Responsible for curriculum documentation, assessment practice, and IB-aligned teaching and learning, the Coordinator mentors teachers, supports authorization and evaluation, and promotes the principles that underpin the MYP. Working collaboratively with the Director of Teaching & Learning, other IB Coordinators, divisional leaders, and faculty, the Coordinator ensures a coherent, inclusive program. Responsibilities follow the four domains of the IB Standards and Practices (2024): Purpose, Environment, Culture, and Learning.

Responsibilities

  • Purpose: Support the School’s guiding statements and the key pedagogical elements of the MYP, including approaches to learning and teaching and the IB learner profile, through departmental facilitation and teacher coaching. Communicate with parents about the MYP and support the Enhanced MYP transition.

  • Environment: Coordinate and monitor program development, MYP core components, and IB-mandated professional development. Lead the induction of new faculty to the MYP, and advise on master scheduling.

  • Culture: Consult on the development of IB policies, including assessment, language, inclusion, academic integrity, and admissions, and support review of admissions processes to ensure access to the MYP.

  • Learning (Curriculum): Support collaborative planning, unit development, curriculum documentation, and interdisciplinary units, and, guided by the Director of Teaching & Learning, contribute to vertical curriculum reviews and the Curriculum Renewal process.

  • Learning (Teaching & Assessment): Support teachers in implementing the Approaches to Teaching and Assessment, assessment moderation, and MLL strategies suited to boys’ and girls’ learning environments, including through class visits.

  • Learning (Students & Transitions): Support students and parents through transitions (Grades 5–6, 8–9, and MYP to DP), guide course selection and placement, and support the Personal Project.

  • Collaboration: Support the Principals in leading the Secondary Heads of Department meetings, and work with the English and Maths Heads of Department as a key member of the pathways team.

  • Wider Role: Promote diversity, belonging, and equity, foster global citizenship and collaboration with Branksome Hall Canada, and teach or take other responsibilities as needed.
