At ISB, we believe that education is a dynamic, creative, and collaborative human endeavor. We are seeking a passionate Outdoor Education Specialist to join our faculty and help students in Grades 5 - 12 explore, investigate, and make sense of the world.
The Outdoor Education Safety & Program Coordinator ensures that all outdoor education programs are thoughtfully structured and operate according to the highest international industry standards.
This role leads the outdoor education team of teachers and instructors, ensuring team members maintain relevant qualifications and remain fully prepared for both daily operations and emergency situations.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
Operational and instructional Programming::
Maintaining safety documentation, staff training, and Ready For Operation (RFO) testing.
Developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for generic, rock, and water activities.
Establishing and updating Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
Conducting comprehensive risk assessments.
Creating and maintaining Activity Safety Cards.
Managing staff training, official certifications, and annual competency assessments (lifeguarding, rock climbing, kayaking/canoeing, and first aid), maintaining documentation on-site at EWC.
Performing safety audits on all land, water, and rock climbing equipment, maintaining records at EWC.
Inspecting and maintaining field first aid kits and emergency response equipment (lightning detectors, AEDs, oxygen units, stretchers).
Planning, conducting, and reviewing Ready For Operation (RFO) testing, reporting findings to the ISB Leadership Team.
External Safety Audit
Commissioning and preparing documentation for external desk audits.
Planning on-site trip audits to align with current international industry standards.
Curriculum & planning
Coordinating program calendars with Middle and Elementary School Administrators
Developing and refining Outdoor Education curriculum for Grades 5 through 8.
Delivering comprehensive safety briefings for all student and staff groups.
ISB Climbing Wall
Managing climbing wall safety procedures, staff training, curriculum integration, instructor qualifications, and facility access.
Conducting safety audits for the climbing wall and maintaining inspection records at EWC.
Trip Leadership
Serving as Administrator-in-Charge on outdoor education trips and providing direct group supervision as needed.
Acting as Incident Commander for emergency response across all outdoor education trips.
Supervising and managing performance for assigned program staff.
Procurement & Budget
Procuring replacement and supplemental equipment based on safety audit findings and program needs.
Preparing the Middle School Outdoor Education budget and submitting proposals to the CFO.
Managing inventory and procurement for field first aid kits and emergency response equipment.
Managing Wild Panthers team uniforms and apparel procurement.
Overseeing the maintenance, servicing, and official use of the program fleet vehicle.
Other
Create a safe, inclusive environment, differentiating instruction and selecting resources to meet diverse learner needs and backgrounds.
Utilize varied assessments and student data to monitor progress, adapt instruction, and provide timely, actionable feedback.
Integrate appropriate technology and contemporary resources to enhance learning and connect classroom concepts with real-world contexts.
Partner with counselors, administrators, and parents to support students' academic achievement and social-emotional well-being.
Engage in continuous professional learning, self-reflection, and contribute positively to the school culture.
Maintain professional obligations, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and upholding ISB standards of integrity, respect, and care.
Strictly uphold ISB expectations for child safeguarding and student well-being.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Valid teaching license/certification and at least 3 years of relevant teaching experience.
Experience with inquiry-based learning, ELL instruction, and using PLC data to inform instruction.
Valid driver's license, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Thai driver's license
Valid certifications in:
Advanced First Aid, AED, and emergency oxygen administration
Rock climbing instruction (auto-belay, top-rope, and single-pitch rappelling)
Kayaking and canoeing (instruction and water rescue)
Pool lifeguarding
Physical fitness required to fulfill all field and instructional duties
Strong expertise in safety systems, risk assessment, emergency response, staff leadership, and program design.
Proven skills in logistics, budgeting, procurement, and cross-departmental communication.

Compensation
ISB provides a highly competitive compensation and benefits package that is commensurate with the candidate’s experience and aligned with global international school standards. The initial contract is a two year commitment.
