XIS hires experienced, child-centered educators who possess values, dispositions, and skills that align with our mission statement and the values of the International Baccalaureate Programmes.  An XIS teacher demonstrates a commitment to reflective practice, the drive to grow professionally and learn, and the desire to be part of something larger than oneself.  Teachers are expected to be high-level contributors to a supportive and inclusive community of open-minded professionals who are diligent, dedicated, and committed to ongoing growth and improvement.  

Duties and responsibilities:  

• Actively supports and promotes the school’s philosophy, mission, and values with emphasis on international-mindedness and the IB learner profile 

• Understands thoroughly and uses the IB programme of the assigned grade level(s), and is familiar with other IB programmes used in the school  

• Implements and delivers curriculum as it pertains to specific grade levels, programme requirements, alignment with internationally recognized standards, and current research and best practices 

• Actively incorporates differentiated learning tasks utilizing multiple instructional and assessment strategies selected to best meet student needs. 

• Demonstrates skill in teaching English Language Learners  

• Works cooperatively with fellow staff members and administration in the ongoing development of curriculum.  Regularly updates curriculum documentation and resources as per divisional/departmental requirements. 

• Tracks and monitors student progress, academic achievement, and social/emotional growth using observations, reflections, and other evidence in addition to a well-planned set of common, standards-based assessments 

• Communicates clearly and openly with parents to meet the needs of students and to promote the mission and values of the school  

• Assists fellow teachers and administrators in the ordering of educational supplies and materials  

• Attends regularly scheduled Monday faculty meetings in addition to any other department, grade/course, committee, and other meetings 

• Attends and engages in all mandated professional development opportunities 

• Actively supervises students to promote an environment in which safety and well-being are prioritized 

• Performs additional duties as assigned by the principal 

Additional Expectations 

XIS provides a wide variety of co-curricular programs and expects every faculty member to do their part to ensure a vibrant and strong learning community outside the academic curriculum. 

All teachers 

• Supervise a minimum of two After School Program activities per year 

• Actively participate in school-sponsored events and activities
